Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?
This is a great book to read with your students and it also helps them to learn their own name and the names of their other classmates.
Write out the following lines on sentence strips:
“Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?”
“________ stole the cookie from the cookie jar.”
“Who me?”
“Yes, you!”
“Couldn’t be!”
“Then who?”
Then write each of your students names so that you can insert each name into the song and read with the class.
When each student gets his/her name called they get to hold the cookie jar filled with cookies! I also then take the students picture stealing a cookie from the jar to add to our class book we will be creating afterwards.
I then write the students name again on a sentence strip and cut them up into letters and place them into a baggie.
Each student receives a paper that says
“________stole a cookie from the cookie jar!”
Then they have to use their cut up letters to create their name in the blank. You can then ask them to draw a picture of them stealing the cookie or print out and glue the picture on their page. I then bound the class book together and add it to our class library.
I hope your student enjoy this as much as mine did!
